Soho
String Quartet is a group of
young, innovative
classical musicians from London.
Our
performers are experience, highly
trained instrumentalists who have
studied full or part-time at
prestigious conservatoires and
academies, such as the Royal College
of Music.
Of
the pool of musicians that makes up
the group, we have cellists who play
with the London Symphony Orchestra
and the Royal Philharmonic, and
Philharmonia Orchestras. We have
violists who perform with some of
the top young ensembles around, and
have given several Wigmore Hall
concerts, and appeared regularly on
BBC Radio 3. Our violinists have won
many significant prizes, and have
given hundreds of concerts around
the UK and Europe. At least four of
our musicians have just finished
recording a disc for the Naxos
record label.
Our
musicians perform frequently on the
concert stage throughout London and
the UK. But when we're not
concertizing, the musicians from
that group, plus many of our friends
from the Royal Academy and other
major conservatoires, come together
to form Soho String Quartet
for events and functions.
We
have great fun performing 'lighter'
music that we wouldn't normally get
to play in concert (try playing
Elton John hits at the Wigmore
Hall!). However, regular
concertizing gives us a great
advantage - we bring all the
performance skills we learn onstage
to give you a superior background
music experience.
